The Streaming Platform is Producing a Popular Game TV Show from the Producers of the Alien Series and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

The newest Far Cry instalment that gamers explored was Far Cry 6, that starred Giancarlo Esposito as the bad guy, Antón, and came out on October 6, 2021. In the game universe, it is known for delighting in action and madness with similar excitement, all while presenting gripping, ideologically themed stories. Little surprise that FX's recent announcement for a Far Cry anthology series attracted two creators whose creations have embodied all of those qualities.

About the Series

Based on Ubisoft's successful video game series, the self-contained anthology series will stream on Hulu and will be created by FX Productions. The show will also follow the video games' format by having a fresh backdrop and group of personalities in subsequent series.

Creative Minds

Rob Mac, creator of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the talent behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will act as showrunners on the series via their labels, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be joined by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.

“FX has had magnificent collaborations with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a combined six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are overjoyed that they are teaming up for Far Cry,” stated Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a announcement. “I have no doubt that they will deliver this story in a way that is fresh, compelling, and extremely entertaining. We also want to appreciate our partners at Ubisoft for placing confidence in us with this popular property.”

Upcoming Developments

Mac will also star in the show, but at the time of writing, we have no details on what role that could be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was recently approved for another season, with FX and Disney agreeing to a new long-term contract with the showrunner.

“Having the opportunity alongside Noah Hawley is a fantasy come true,” said Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been exceptionally supportive, placing faith in us with one of the most iconic video-game universes ever created. And throughout this process, my FX team always encourages me with their ongoing confidence and assistance.”

“What appeals to me about the Far Cry game franchise is that it’s an anthology show. Every instalment is a interpretation of a idea, the same way every series of Fargo is a variation on a theme,” noted Hawley. “To develop a large-scale action show that can shift from year to year, while always exploring the core of people through this complex and chaotic lens, is a ultimate goal. I’m eager to collaborate with Rob and introduce our shared irreverent, daring approach to the television.”

A schedule for when we can expect the new Far Cry show has not been announced. The series will be available on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus internationally.
