Arne Slot Asserts He Is Safe and Retains Liverpool's Backing Following PSV Eindhoven Humiliation

The Liverpool head coach admitted that it was expected for questions to be asked about his future after another convincing loss versus the Dutch champions.

The Reds endured their 9th defeat in twelve games, representing the club's worst run after being demoted in 1953-54.

They were outplayed by the Eredivisie champions on a tough night at their home ground.

“I feel secure, I'm fine, I have got a lot of support from the top,” the coach commented.

“It would be nice to reverse this trend and get a victory of course but when you're coaching a team and not doing well then it's expected that questions are asked.”

He continued, “I accept my position. It is not the initial instance I’ve been in a challenging situation but it's necessary that we changed our fortunes.”

Conversations with Club Management

When asked to provide details on his discussions with the team officials, the head coach said:

“We communicate frequently. They are supportive for the squad and to me and we discuss these matters but they don’t call me every single minute of the day to say they trust me.”

He added, “In the normal discussions I perceive the trust. However I've not talked to them since this match so far so we'll see.”

Familiar Failings and Player Reaction

The manager highlighted familiar weaknesses from his squad in their European loss, specifically wasted chances and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, player Jones was more direct in his view of the team's situation.

“I haven't got the solutions. Truthfully, I do not. I'm telling that to all,” Jones stated.

“It’s just unacceptable. I don’t even need to wait to consider it. I’m past getting mad internally. I've reached the stage now where I just don’t have the words.”

He went on, “It’s hard because I’m playing for the team I support. I’m a fan, and I’ve seen this club all my life.”

“In recent memory, I've not seen a Liverpool team experiencing a spell such as this with outcomes like these.”

He finished, “However we still have the emblem on our shirts. And as long as that badge is taken away, we will always battle.”

“Our aim is to help the side back to where it needs to be, show everyone again the values of this club and the reason it's called the best team in the planet.”

“But right now, we’re in the shit and it needs to change.”
